广西艺术学院简介

广西艺术学院位于广西壮族自治区首府南宁市,是全国七所综合性普通本科高等艺术院校之一。现为国家文化和旅游部与广西壮族自治区人民政府共建高校,教育部本科教学评估优秀高校,广西特色优势高校,广西博士单位立项建设高校,国家中西部高校基础能力建设工程高校。

学校前身是我国著名音乐家满谦子先生和现代杰出画家、美术教育家徐悲鸿先生以及著名作曲家、音乐教育家吴伯超先生于1938年倡议建立的“广西省会国民基础学校艺术师资训练班”。在80年的办学历史中,满谦子、徐悲鸿、吴伯超、阳太阳、陈烟桥、陈良、黄独峰、朱培钧、陆华柏、李志曙等一批国内外知名的艺术家和艺术教育家,曾长期耕耘在学校,他们执教治学,弘文励教,为学校的发展奠定了良好的基础,积淀了深厚的文化底蕴。

学校现有四个校区,分别是位于南宁市的南湖校区、相思湖校区、西校区和桂林校区,总占地面积为655.13亩。学校下设音乐学院、音乐教育学院、美术学院、美术教育学院、设计学院、中国画学院/漓江画派学院、舞蹈学院/附属中等艺术学校、人文学院、影视与传媒学院、职业技术学院、建筑艺术学院、造型艺术学院、公共课教学部、马克思主义学院、继续教育学院/广西艺术学院培训中心、国际教育学院16个教学单位,1所艺术研究院。学校面向全国招生,有各类全日制在校生15000人左右。

学校学科专业建设卓有成效。学校现有美术学、音乐与舞蹈学、设计学、艺术学理论、戏剧与影视学、新闻传播学6个一级学科硕士授权点,3个硕士专业学位授权点,37个本科专业,38个本科专业方向,11个高职专业,形成较为完备的高等艺术教育体系。在第四轮学科评估中,我校美术学一级学科评定为B+,进入全国前20%;音乐与舞蹈学和设计学两个一级学科评定为B,进入全国前30%;艺术学理论一级学科评定为C+,进入全国前50%。在广西10个最好的学科里我校占3个,被评定为B以上的学科比例达50%。美术学和音乐与舞蹈学为广西一流专业建设学科;广告学为全国首批6个国家级一流专业之一。

学校师资水平较高。目前拥有教职工1300余人,其中专任教师924人,具有高级专业技术职务340多人,3人享受国务院政府特殊津贴,3人获聘自治区八桂学者岗位,2人获聘自治区青年八桂学者岗位,2人荣获“全国模范教师”,3人荣获“全国优秀教师”,5人被自治区人民政府授予“自治区优秀专家”称号,2人荣获“八桂名师”称号,5人荣获“广西高等学校教学名师奖”,1人获聘自治区终身教授,2人入选自治区“十百千人才工程”第二层次人选,广西高等学校高水平创新团队及卓越学者计划项目1个。目前,学校有国家级教学团队1个,自治区级教学团队6个,教育部高等学校本科教学指导委员会委员5人,其中1人为副主任委员,广西本科高校教学指导委员会主任委员4人,秘书长4人,委员19人。

学校科研创作成果丰硕。2015年以来,学校获得省部级以上科研项目一百多项,其他各类科研创作项目八百余项,获得国家艺术基金64项,立项数目在全国几千家申报单位中名列前茅,并实现了在校生获立项的突破,在全国产生了较大的影响。学校教师出版学术著作数百部,平均每年在国内核心权威期刊发表学术论文上百篇,多项咨询报告获自治区领导批示。师生在“金钟奖”“文华奖”“孔雀奖”“桃李杯”“荷花奖”等各级各类专业演展比赛中获得大批奖项,五年来获广西文艺创作铜鼓奖18项,第十三届全国美术作品展中共有46件作品入选。以学校美术教师为主体的“漓江画派”已发展成为走向世界的文化品牌,为扩大广西的影响力和知名度作出了重要贡献。 

学校国际教育特色鲜明。学校大力开展以对东盟为主的国际交流与教育合作,先后与60所国(境)外院校和国家级艺术团体开展了合作交流。由学校举办的“中国—东盟音乐周”“中国—东盟建筑空间设计教育高峰论坛”“中国—东盟舞蹈教育论坛”已成为三个有影响力的国际化专业论坛,其中“中国—东盟音乐周”已跻身为全国“新音乐”创作的三大平台,并与上海音乐学院“上海当代音乐周”联合申报获得世界瞩目的2021年世界新音乐节举办权。2012年,外交部和教育部在我校挂牌成立“中国—东盟艺术人才培训中心”,至今为东盟国家培养高端艺术人才800余人。2017年,我校与中国-东盟中心、东南亚教育部长组织高等教育与发展区域中心联合发起成立“中国—东盟艺术高校联盟”,促进区域文化艺术和教育交流。学校有中外合作办学和校际交流项目在校生600多名,留学生60余人。马来西亚留学生陈永馨参加“中国好声音”入围2014年度八强,成为最受瞩目的歌手之一;越南留学生杜氏清花多次为中越两国最高领导人表演获得高度赞誉,并受到习近平总书记署名文章点赞。学校多次承办政府高端文化艺术交流活动,优秀留学生不断涌现,为国际文化艺术交流作出了许多贡献。

面对党和国家新时代高等艺术教育的新要求新部署,面对经济社会发展的新格局,学校秉承“亲爱精诚”的校训精神,坚持立德树人,坚持走以优化结构和质量提升为核心的内涵式发展道路,坚持实施“质量立校、人才强校、学科兴校、特色优校、文化引领和教育国际化”六大战略,向着建设成为“国内一流、国际有影响、特色鲜明的综合性艺术大学”不断迈进。

A Profile of Guangxi Arts University

Guangxi Arts University is located in the picturesque city of Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which is the permanent seat of China-ASEAN Expo and one of the major cities in the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone. We are now jointly supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Government of Guangxi Autonomous Region. Guangxi Arts University is renowned for its quality education and distinctive local features. Included in National Basic Ability Construction Project for Universities in Western and Central China, Guangxi Arts University is shortlisted for the doctoral degrees conferring institutions development project in Guangxi.

The origin of Guangxi Arts University can be traced back to The Guangxi Arts Faculty Training School founded in 1938 by Man Qianzi the musician, Xu Beihong the modern painter and fine arts educator, and Wu Bochao the musicologist and composer. In the 80 years of history, with its development in sync with that of the nation, GXAU has been pioneering higher learning for the arts in Guangxi and making constant contribution to economic and social development of the region.

With four campuses located in two of Guangxi’s major cities (three in Nanning and one in Guilin) , GXAU occupies a land area totaling 655.13 mu, that is, approximately 436753.33 square meters. Together with one arts research institute, GXAU comprises sixteen faculties, namely, College of Fine Arts, College of Design, College of Chinese Painting/Lijiang Painting School, College of Music, College of Dance/Affiliated Secondary School, College of Humanities, College of Film, Television and Media, Academy of Architectural Arts, College of Plastic Arts, College of Fine Arts Education, College of Music Education, College of Continuing Education, College of Marxism, General Education Department and College of International Education. GXAU now enjoys an enrollment of about 15,000 students.

Disciplines development has been faring well. Boasting a fully-fledged system for higher education of the arts, we now offer master programs in six first degree discplines (namely arts theory, musicology and choreology, drama, film and television sttudies, fine arts, design studies, journalism and communications), thirty-eight undergraduate specialties and 11 higher vocational specialties. In the fourth round of China University Subject Rankings (CUSR) conducted in 2016, the first degree discipline of fine arts had been graded B+; the disciplines of musicology and choreology and design studies had been graded B; the discipline of arts theory had been graded C+. The disciplines of fine arts and musicology and choreology had been designated as provincial first-class specialties. Advertisement science specialty offered in GXAU has been included among the first batch of national first-class specialties.  

 The University has got a staff of more than 1300. Among them, 868 are full-time teachers, of whom more than 340 enjoy senior academic titles. Among the teaching faculty, three enjoy the special government allowance of the state council and some have been recognized as Bagui Scholar, Bagui Youth Scholar, National Model Teacher, National Outstanding Teacher, Guangxi Outstanding Experts, Bagui Prestigious Teacher, Guangxi Outstanding College Teacher, Guangxi Tenured Professor, etc. We now boast one national teaching echelon and 6 provincial teaching echelons. Many among the faculty are on the national as well as provincial advisory committees on undergraduate education of the arts. 

GXAU puts premium on research and artistic creation. The years since 2015 have witnessed approximately 1000 research projects set up, of which 118 are above provincial level and 64 are sponsored by the National Fine Arts Fund, resulting in GXAU to rank among the top of all the applicant institutions. One hundred and thirty-three academic monographs and 4183 pieces of academic essays have been published over the past five years, of which 512 pieces are delivered by core academic periodicals. Teachers and students alike have so far collected around 600 national and international awards in various competitions and events of the arts, such as The Golden Bell Awards, The Culture Awards, The Peacock Awards, The Peach and Plum Cup, The National Fine Arts Festival, The National College Fine Arts Festival, The National College Advertising Competition, The Chinese School Drama Festival, and The CCTV National Television Dance Competition. The past five years have seen 18 pieces of artistic creation by our faculty awarded the Guangxi Bronze Drum Prize and quite a few pieces recognized as outstanding social science research achievement. Forty-six pieces had been included in the 13th session of National Fine Art Exhibition. Meanwhile, GXAU’s Department of Fine Arts has successfully turned the Lijiang Painting School into the university’s own cultural brand as a means to reach to, and link with the outer world.

GXAU maintains collaborative relationships and cultural exchanges with 60 institutions of international renown from countries and regions including the U.S., the U.K., Russia and ASEAN. As the seat of China-ASEAN Training Center for Artists jointly designated by the ministry of foreign affairs and the ministry of education in 2012, we have so far offered training programs for more than 800 high-caliber artists from ASEAN. There are currently three events held by GXAU which have already turned into specialized forums of international influence, namely the China-ASEAN Music Week, the China-ASEAN Forum on Architectural Space Design, and the China-ASEAN Dance Forum and Festival. The year 2017 had witnessed the foundation of ASEAN-China Arts Colleges Alliance jointly initiated by GXAU, ASEAN-China Centre and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Center for Higher Education and Development. In 2018, we succeeded in the bid to co-host the 2021 World New Music Week together with Shanghai Conservatory of Music. As major initiator of ASEAN-China Arts Colleges Alliance, we have organized various cultural exchanges events hosted by governments at various levels to facilitate arts and cultural cooperation and artists’ cultivation. Currently, the University boasts an enrollment of more than 60 international students and more than 600 students in the existing Chinese-Foreign Education Co-operation Programs. The past decade has seen our endeavor and achievement in promoting international exchanges and cooperation in arts creation and education. The emergence of many outstanding international students lends testimony to our efforts to promote international education.

In the wake of national and provincial new situations of economic, social and cultural growth and development, upholding her motto of fraternity, diligence and sincerity, GXAU perseveres in improving and optimizing its infrastructures, paving the way for a brighter future, striving to fully implement its six major strategies of improving teaching, cultivating talents, developing disciplines, upholding local ethnic culture, and promoting international education. GXAU strives to become a leading international influence bearing the unique and distinct features of a comprehensive arts university.
